Abstract

Open access is a publishing model that seeks to democratize scientific knowledge by allowing free and unrestricted access to articles, books and other academic resources. This approach maximizes the impact of research by promoting the visibility, transparency and reuse of knowledge, as well as strengthening collaboration between scientists at a global level. Initiatives such as Plan S in Europe and UNESCO guidelines have promoted policies that guarantee open access to academic production, promoting greater equity in the distribution of scientific information and contributing to the construction of a shared knowledge ecosystem.
